You heard I was spilling tea today, didn’t you? 🫖☕️ Is that why you’re here? 🧐
It’s okay. I’m just glad you’re here 😌 There’s enough tea to go around. Invite a friend and let’s get into it.
💡Weekly insight💡
In my last newsletter I told you we’d get personal today, so here I am.. getting personal about my professional life. So strange to put those in the same sentence but here we are 😂
To this date in my adult life I think I’ve had three different “careers” and I’m not even 30.
Dentistry (assisting then management)
K-12 Education
Instructional Design
I am clearly no stranger to transition although… I actually am a creature of habit and hate change. So why did I do something so many times that made me so uncomfortable? hard-headed (and if your mom ever called you this, I hope you heard it in her voice in your head as you read it). 🤣
The common thread for all of my transitions was that I was stuck. It was always a tough dance I was enjoying the “steps” but they all felt repetitive and at times incredibly difficult and I lacked the ability to add any “flourish”. In each of the roles “stuck”, felt a little different. In Dentistry I felt stuck with hours required to work and goals and I wanted to be rewarded for more than numbers. In Education, I felt stuck in my earnings and time, there was no way I could show up for my kids in the way that they really needed while working the demanding schedule of a teacher.
Instructional design gave me everything I needed and I think I’ll be here for a little while 😌 Everyday is a new dance where I get the choice to dance in whatever way I want to 💃🏽 In Instructional design, I largely work from home on projects where I really have to challenge myself to clearly present information in an engaging manner. I work from home. I am able to secure work outside of work if I feel like I need to supplement my income. My benefits are incredible! My job feels incredibly stable! … why didn’t I do this sooner?! Well… I didn’t know this even existed as a job. I didn’t find out about this kind of job until I started looking to transition.
Transition allowed me to be a better mom to my kids 👦🏽👦🏽 It allowed me to save wear and tear on my car 🚘 It saved me gas money 💵 It gave me higher salary overall 💰 It challenged me and continues to challenge me daily… And none of this would have been available to me if I didn’t get over my initial fear of change and the work it would take me to transition.
If you are feeling stuck in your current role, consider dancing into a transition 💃🏽Transition doesn’t have to be an entirely new career field, it can be a new company in the same role or a new sector. A change of scenery (and/or pay) does the mind good 💆🏽♀️
Before you make any abrupt decisions… make a plan 👩🏽💻 I like to figure out my course of action by asking myself questions. Here is a list of what I’ve asked myself each time.
What is your aim?
What does it take to get there?
How long will it take?
What are the challenges you can expect to face?
How will you overcome the expected challenges?
What can you do daily to make progress toward your goal?
How will you know you’ve achieved it?

🔥What’s Hot🔥
📌YouTube:
All of the content that I take in these days is purely motivational. Usually, I already know of the person that YouTube is recommending to me but I was pleasantly surprised when I ran into content from Jesse Itzler. I’ve heard about him in the past from David Goggins (who I’ve mentioned before in this newsletter) but never knew that he actually puts out content. I was incredibly moved by this video.
This video is incredibly motivational and for good reason. The crowd he gave this talk to was a crowd set to complete 29029, an event created by the man himself, where participants climb 29029 feet in 36 hours. Not only is this challenge tough physically, it is incredibly mentally tough as you climb the mountain in insane conditions, take down the gondola, and repeat 🏔️ So even when you get to the peak, you go back down and keep going… 😱
I couldn’t help thinking this is so much like, life. When you hit one peak or meet one goal you cannot expect for everything to be smooth sailing ⛵️ Trials will come. You have to keep going, regardless of what you’ve already done.
Here are a few quotes from the video that stood out to me most that I’ve meditated on this week:
“It depends on how big your why is… Is your why bigger than your obstacles?”
“The #1 indicator of future success is grit.”
“When you do things that make you grittier, your baseline goes up… it doesn’t go down from there.”
“You don’t have to be the toughest guy in the world to be gritty.”
“You will be disappointed, and you will get better from it.”
“Expect the pain. You’re a salesman, your job is to sell. They are the customer, their job is to push back.”
“If I’m going to do something, I’m going to pour my soul into it.”
“Only one person in the room can be the best looking… but anybody can care the most. Anybody can try the hardest.”
“Empty the tank! … I can’t control everything, but I can control my effort.”
“I will not quit.”
“How do you feel? Your only answer should ever be outstanding.”
“The words that you speak, matter.”
The takeaway here is that tough times happen but you are tough 💪🏽 You are caring! Your why is massive! You can get through it. So if you’ve got to dance through your challenge, or walk ,or crawl even.. just know that you can do it 🫶🏽
In the words of the 29029 team themselves, “Climb the damn mountain”.
🥶What’s not🥶
Sitting out and watching everyone while at the dance…. in the words of Lee Annn Womack, “I hope you DAAANNNCEEEE.”

🤣Final funny🤣
I stumbled upon this video on Facebook and it gave me all the feels. Although this one isn’t necessarily “funny”. If you’ve ever watched the Golden Girls then you will get a chuckle.
Life can truly be lived out loud at any age, so be sure to dance 🕺🏽💃🏽… or skate… whatever floats your boat at whatever age you are.
You can thank me later for the interesting time you’re about to have… Or now by buying me a coffee, or following me anywhere I may be by visiting this link.
Don’t forget to smile a while. Talk soon ❤️
